This Section will perform the following activities:-
- Prepare inspection plans, guidelines and checklist for chemicals and chemical laboratories inspection;
- Coordinate or conduct inspection to chemicals producers, importers, exporters, transporters or dealers in any way;
- Coordinate or conduct inspection to chemicals and chemical laboratories;
- Coordinate, manage and control the import, production, transportation, dealing, storage and disposal of chemicals;
- Coordinate inspection of chemicals and chemical laboratories to Zonal laboratories;
- Coordinate Emergence Response Committee (ERC) meetings on chemicals;
- Coordinate implementation of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS)Conventions on Chemicals;
- Conduct public awareness campaigns on the sound management of chemicals;
- Conduct special training and cause to be gazetted chemicals and chemical laboratories inspectors;
- Propose regulations and areas for review on matters related to chemicals and chemical laboratories; and
- Monitor the compliance with the provisions of Industrial and Consumer chemicals (Management and Control) Act No. 3 of 2003 and Government Chemist Laboratory Authority Act No. 8 of 2016 and the corresponding Regulations.
This Section will be led by a Manager.
