This Section will perform the following activities:-
- Carry out microbiological analysis of food, drugs, condiments and
- spices, herbal medicine, waste water, sediment, soil, detergents, disinfectants, chemicals and their products;
- Develop, validate and review analytical methods of sampling and microbiological analysis of food, drugs, herbal medicine, waste water, sediment, soil, detergents, disinfectants, chemicals and their products;
- Prepare, implement and review of the Standard Operating Procedures for microbiology laboratory analysis;
- Conduct applied research on matters related to microbiology laboratory activities;
- Develop, implement and review of the Microbiology laboratory Quality Manual for accreditation purposes;
- Participate in Proficiency Testing (PT) Schemes to facilitate accreditation of the microbiology laboratory analytical methods;
- Provide scientific advice and advisory services on matters related to microbiology laboratory activities;
- Interpret and review analytical results and prepare reports of microbiology laboratory findings/results for use in the court of law or elsewhere;
- Implement Quality Management System and microbiology laboratory accreditation requirements;
- Prepare technical specifications for purchase of microbiology laboratory instruments, reference culture media, chemicals and reagents, reference books and consumables;
- Conduct emergency inspection, sampling and microbiological laboratory analysis of food, drugs and their raw materials and herbal medicine on matters of national or public interest; and
- Assess the Microbiology Laboratory Section risk, analysis and implement mitigation measures accordingly.
This Section will be led by a Manager.
